Basic study on architectural planning of psychiatric hospital — Zhou 2010
This paper examines the current mental health facilities in China from the perspective of architects, given that mental illness has become a significant threat to human health. In order to effectively learn from the developed countries, this paper reviews a brief history of the world's mental health and the major phases of the evolution of psychiatric hospitals, analyzes the actual situation of mental health facilities abroad based on a large amount of data, compares the roles of public and private psychiatric hospitals from the perspective of government supervision, and investigates the functions and positions of psychiatric hospitals and the plethora of psychiatric hospitals in China. This paper concludes with a discussion of the necessity of systematizing mental health facilities, the role of psychiatric hospitals in this system, and the evolving approaches of psychiatric hospitals in China.
