Brief Review of Outcomes of Major Neurovascular Events in COVID-19— Taylor 2020

This is a brief audio review. In the article Outcomes and Spectrum of Major Neurovascular Events Among COVID-19 Patients: A 3-Center Experience published, 2020 by Taylor and Colleagues, The outcomes and key points are as noted: COVID-19 patients experience worse prognoses in comorbid cerebrovascular ischemia and hemorrhage. Large vessel occlusion in COVID-19 patients had worse outcomes. 12 (46%) died, 15 (58%) large vessel occlusion, 8 (53%) large vessel occlusion mortality, 9 (60%) mechanical thrombectomy, 7 (27%) intracranial hemorrhage, 8 (31%) adult respiratory distress syndrome, 7 (88%, 27%) adult respiratory distress syndrome mortality; The median admission glasgow coma score for surviving patients was 14 versus a glasgow coma score of 7 on admission for mortality-bound patients. This was Retrospective, cross-sectional, multi center, [observational] with 26 patients who were patients with cerebrovascular events and obtaining neurosurgical intensive care or neurosurgical consultation.
