Human-Computer Interaction, Ethics, and Biomedical Informatics - Hochhieser 2020

This paper aims to review recent work in Biomedical Informatics, HCI, and Ethics. Human-Computer Interaction, Biomedical Informatics, and Ethics were searched for 2017-2019 papers. Relevant papers were found via database searches, manual citation reviews, recent publications, special collections, and peer recommendations. Reviewing and organizing articles into themes. Over a dozen journals contained significant studies on Biomedical Informatics, HCI, and Ethics. These studies were arranged into three themes: ethical difficulties with system use, system design, and responsible research. This overview shows a strong interest in HCI ethics in biomedical informatics. Patient-facing tools, mobile devices, social media, privacy, inclusion, and e-consent are becoming more prominent in biomedical informatics research. As precision medicine and citizen science increase, new questions will arise.
