Human-computer interaction for development: The past, present, and future - Ho 2009

"Recent years have seen a blossoming interest in researching the use of information and communication technologies (ICTs) in developing regions, specifically how such ICTs may be built to satisfy distinct user and infrastructural requirements. HCI4D has multiple beginnings. As a result, it can be difficult to navigate earlier work and/or acquire a broad perspective of the field. In this study, we try to contextualize HCI4D by providing some historical background, reviewing its existing literature from a variety of research traditions, discussing some of its fundamental difficulties, and suggesting future research targets."
