Review of Intracranial Hemorrhage From Dural Arteriovenous Fistulas: Symptoms, Early Re-bleed, and Acute Management: A Single-Center 8-Year Experience — Sorteberg 2021

In the article Intracranial Hemorrhage From Dural Arteriovenous Fistulas: Symptoms, Early Re-bleed, and Acute Management: A Single-Center 8-Year Experience published, 2020 by Sorteberg and Colleagues, The outcomes and key points are as noted: In this study of 20 patients, Intracranial hemorrhage secondary to dural arteriovenous fistula typically presents as a thunderclap headache (about 65 % of cases), on angiography some had draining vein aneurysms with blebs or pseudo-blebs with small parenchymal veins there is a high frequency of re-bleeding, about 35%, open cranial surgery was used to treat 90% of patients and obliteration of the fistula was confirmed in all cases. The 7 month median extended Glasgow Outcome scale was 7 to 8 in 65% of patients. In a Retrospective, cohort, descriptive, [observational] study with 20 Patients with Intracranial hemorrhage confirmed to be from dural arteriovenous fistula presenting to a single center/facility.
