The flourishing scholarship of psychosocial oncology viewed across 30 years through the lens of this journal, Psycho-Oncology - Kissane 2022
This issue is a celebration of Psycho-30th Oncology's anniversary as a journal. Psycho-Oncology is a place where research on the psychological, social, and behavioral aspects of cancer can be found. Psycho-oncology was created as an evidence-based field to offer an alternative to therapies that haven't been proven to work and to help people with cancer and their families cope better and get more help. For this editorial, we looked at some of the most important articles. Studies have been done to find out how often cancer causes illness and what the immediate, long-term, and late effects of its different treatments are. Interventions have been changed to help with existential problems, fear of dying, fear of a recurrence, disease progression, palliative care, and grief. Psychotropic and psychotherapeutic treatments have been used together in mixed modality treatments. Researchers have looked at how illness affects recovery, fertility, sexuality, body image, and relationships. This journal has helped the field grow by publishing the new ideas that researchers have come up with.
