Review of Analysis of Neurosurgical Procedures With Unplanned Re-Operation For Quality Improvement— Huang 2021

This is a brief audio review. In the article Analysis of neurosurgical procedures with unplanned reoperation for quality improvement published, 2021 by Huang and Colleagues, The outcomes and key points are as noted: 2% of neurosurgical patients had an unplanned visit. Cranial procedures that had a reoperation were due to hemorrhages (49.5%), hydrocephalus (12%), and subdural effusion (5.4%). Spinal procedures that had a reoperation were due to residual disc (5.4%) and surgical site infection (4.3%). This was a Retrospective Cohort, descriptive, [observation] with 4365 patients who were Patients who had a neurosurgical procedure from January 2015 to December 2019, at a regional hospital.
