Progress in Psycho-Oncology with Special Reference to Developing Countries - murthy 2019
Psycho-oncology commemorates 25 years. Growing understanding of psychological concerns of cancer patients and the role of sociocultural considerations in resolving them. This review examines cancer-related pain and psychosocial care in developing countries. There are growing acknowledgement of emotional requirements, sociocultural dimensions of emotional reactions, caregivers, resilience, posttraumatic growth, and spirituality in cancer care. Socioeconomic, cultural, religious, and health systems influence cancer's psychosocial components. Yoga, financial and material support, and caregiver involvement are some unique care options. Positive trend demonstrates increased professionals documenting and developing new treatment programs. Many people have cancer. Social, economic, cultural, and religious factors influence psychosocial needs. Self-care and professional care can address needs. In developing countries, longitudinal research of psychosocial experiences, culturally-appropriate therapies, and improved use of information technology are necessary.
